We’ve asked two participants from last year’s Reversed Mentorship Program about their experience of being mentored by a student! First out is Henrik Lönndahl, consulting manager at Nexer.

What did you learn from participating in the Reversed Mentorship Program? What has been most valuable to you?

“What created the most value for me was to share a different perspective on issues that I work with on a daily basis. To get a reminder and insight that those who enter work life today have different values, requirements, questions, and challenges. Knowing this is invaluable to me in my role as consulting manager.”

Why should companies apply for this program?

“The view on work-life is currently experiencing one of the biggest transformations in a very long time. The Reversed Mentorship Program gives important input into what employers need to work with in the future in order to develop and retain their employees, and in the long run, succeed with their business.”

Louise Felldin, business director at Linköpings Kommun shares her thoughts as well:

What did you learn from participating in the Reversed Mentorship Program?

“I have learned many things from my mentor. We discussed relevant topics such as sustainable companies and student integration in the city. But we also shared other experiences, knowledge, and laughs during our meetings.”

What has been most valuable to you and your organization?

“It was very valuable to get new perspectives and thoughts – not only from a younger generation but also from someone studying and working in a totally different field.”

Why should companies apply for this program?

“Besides your mentor you get to know many interesting people (the other mentees and mentors), you receive great support from the coordinator at Linköping Science Park, and the time spent is relatively modest. It is always rewarding to have a mentor!”
