Last week, Robin Eriksson, Program Manager IndX, attended Viva Technology in Paris, exclusively invited by Business France Nordics. Read on to learn more about his key takeaways from the event.

The event was one of the most captivating technology and startup conferences I’ve attended. I had the opportunity to talk to many startups with genuinely interesting solutions that I hope to connect to our partners at IndX. AI was, of course, one of the main topics, along with technology to enhance senses and bridge disabilities.

At the event, I met former IndX attendees Moabi and Nicolas Gaume, as well as this week’s IndX Sustainability attendee Fransisco from Elementag and his team.

Future solutions for a better world

My two highlights from the event stages were participating in the remote live Q&A with Elon Musk and hearing Amazon’s CTO Werner Vogels discuss future solutions for a better world. Elon Musk expressed his future concern about AI and his hope for Mars, emphasizing the importance of AI being truthful above all other virtues. Werner Vogels explained solutions to make fish and rice farms more efficient and sustainable. According to him, fish is one of the most sustainable sources of protein, since it leverages 1 kg of protein for every 1 kg of feed given to the fish. Werner also mentioned that as soon as the technology works, we no longer call it AI, which I found thought-provoking.

This is Viva Technology

Viva Technology, often referred to as “Vivatech,” is Europe’s largest and most influential tech and startup conference. It annually gathers leading companies, startups, investors, and innovators from around the world to explore the future of technology and trends. This year’s event heavily focused on AI, sustainability, and inclusive technology, with over 100,000 attendees from 125 countries and more than 3,000 startups represented. Other highlights included panel discussions on the future workplace, exhibitions of groundbreaking innovations, and opportunities for startups to pitch their ideas to investors.

I hope to be back next year, especially as Elon promised to be there in person too.
