Heation and Together Tech applied for testbed vouchers, handed out by the Municipality of Linköping, to test and develop their technical solutions that contribute to a more resource-efficient climate. These vouchers, worth 20,000 SEK, provide companies with the opportunity to conduct tests to evaluate and improve their products, regardless of whether the results meet expectations or require adjustments.
Heation
Heation examined the amount of oxygen in water pipes using a filtration solution and sensors connected to their IoT platform, where the data is analyzed. By measuring the oxygen, it is possible to detect whether a water leak has occurred.
During the test, the sensors were adjusted to find the most efficient solution. The test results showed that the IoT device can be smoothly integrated into existing systems to monitor the health of cooling and heating systems by measuring oxygen levels. A clear connection was observed between oxygen ingress and decreased energy efficiency in the heating system.
Together Tech
Together Tech tested the combination of solar panels and supercapacitors for energy storage in Ebbepark, with Ligna Energy’s capacitor as one option. Sensors were placed in buildings at various locations in Ebbepark to assess how well they harvest energy, whether they were positioned in more or less illuminated areas.
The test results showed that the system worked under many lighting conditions, and the next step is to develop the sensors and supercapacitors further to meet the energy storage requirements. The insights from the tests provided valuable information on how the current system design can be improved to handle various lighting conditions in the future.
The purpose of the testbed vouchers is to give companies the opportunity to test their solutions, where the results contribute to a learning process. If something works as planned, it can be seen as a verification of the test. However, if the outcome does not meet expectations, it becomes valuable insight for further product development or an indication of potential new markets to explore.
