Linköping is one of six finalists in the iCapital Award, handed out by the European Comission!

The award is given to cities in Europe that are good examples of how social and sustainability challenges (being a growing city, aging population and segregation) can be solved through innovation and development.

Linköping Science Park is a part in this work by being a supporting role in connecting business life, companies, academia and entrepreneurs to turn ideas into innovation by working with over 600 companies in Linköping, with specific investments in cybersecurity (Cyberly), Internet of things (IoT World) and AI (AI Sweden) for example.

Since 1984, the company park Mjärdevi in Linköping Östergötland, has been a place where talent grows. It started with the establishment of a few research and technology companies, in near proximity to the university. The power, the knowledge and the ambition of these people made the foundation of a community, which in three decades has grown into being a leading international environment for innovation and growth.

What happens now

A total of six cities has been chosen as semifinalists. Now a presentation for the high-level jury awaits, where three finalists will be announced in Marseille on the 27th of November. The winner will receive 500 000 euro to continue fostering innovations.
