The Position 
Toyota Material Handling is at the forefront of innovation within logistics, dedicated to shaping the future through cutting-edge technology. Our commitment to excellence has positioned us as a key player in the market, and we’re now looking for a visionary leader to drive our software development initiatives forward. We are now seeking an experienced Senior Software Manager R&D to join our growing team based in Mjölby, Sweden.

You will lead and inspire a dynamic team of developers on our journey to transform our premium forklifts to become Smart and Autonomous based on IoT, Big Data and AI/ML. You will be part of the R&D management team and have approximately 100 engineers in your organization and lead your own management team. You will report to the Director R&D for Warehouse trucks.

Your Responsibilities 

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of developers, fostering innovation and collaboration.
  • Drive the technology roadmap in key areas such as IoT and AI/ML.
  • Demonstrate strong expertise in data analysis, utilizing insights to inform decision-making processes and enhance the performance of digital services and software systems.
  • Oversee the software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery, high quality, and alignment with customer needs.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to digital services and software systems, providing regular updates to the R&D management team.
  • Take ownership of the budget for the software development teams, optimizing resource allocation for project success.
  • Manage and plan certifications for products, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide technical assistance and ensure seamless integration across departments.
  • Foster a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging a culture of continuous improvement.

Your Profile

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within R&D or software development, with a focus on IoT, Big Data, and AI/ML technologies.
  • Strong strategic thinking and the ability to implement roadmaps for product transformation.
  • Excellent project management skills with a focus on timely delivery and quality.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to the development and execution of the company’s overall R&D and digital services strategy.
  • Understands the challenges of operating in a diverse cross-cultural international environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent proficiency in both written and spoken Swedish and English.
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
