The Position
Toyota Material Handling is the global leader in material handling, and to maintain that position, we require products and solutions that consistently meet and exceed the high expectations of our customers. The main tasks of our Innovation Office are to identify and describe future threats and opportunities in technology, logistics, and business, propose strategies for our management, and then, together with many partners within and outside our company, conduct analyses, tests, and experiments to develop new innovations and solutions that we can bring to the market.

The position of Program Manager for the Innovation Office is a forward-looking role in a dynamic and rapidly changing world, where your role will be to shape the future of a globally leading company. You will be involved in creating solutions that will fundamentally transform our company, and potentially the entire material handling industry. You will have significant opportunities to plan your work independently and contribute to the future of our small team. The role involves travel within Sweden and mainly across Europe, with an estimated 40 to 50 travel days per year.

Your Responsibilities

As a Program Manager, you will work in a small, dynamic team in which we are flexible in how we divide tasks and responsibilities. The team’s main responsibilities are:

  • Lead the work of identifying future threats and opportunities in technology, logistics, and business by collaborating with customers, internal and external experts — for example, the world-leading institute Gartner — and annually manage the production and publication process for TMHE’s Trend Report.
  • Build and develop TMHE; s external “eco-system” for innovation, by driving co-operations with start-up arenas in and outside of Sweden
    Act as the central point of contact for external parties such as startups and tech companies, continuously evaluating opportunities with new concepts and ideas presented to us.
  • Practically work on initiating and conducting tests and experiments of interesting new innovations, either in-house or with partners, often in collaboration with one or more internal stakeholders within TMHE.
  • Of particular importance is working closely with our major customers to identify problems and needs that need to be addressed to advance their logistics processes.
  • Assist our marketing companies with presentations and support to help them make an impact in the local European market.

Your Profile

  • You have a passion for innovation and modern technology, along with a strong ability to combine technology with business ideas and identify future business opportunities for us and our customers.
  • You have excellent skills in acting and building trust within a complex organization with many stakeholders and external partners.
  • Ability to initiate and manage innovation opportunities from idea to ready concept.
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills.
  • You are a strong team player who is willing to step in wherever needed in a small, fast-changing organization.
  • You likely have a Master of Science in Engineering or equivalent, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience. We would also appreciate if you have knowledge and experience from large companies and the ability to navigate within complex organizations. Experience from the logistics industry is a plus.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken Swedish.
