The Position
Toyota Material Handling Europe is leading the development of automated and intelligent solutions that shape the future of material handling. As Head of R&D Automation Systems, you will join the R&D management team and report directly to the SVP R&D. You guide how automation systems are designed, built and brought to market. You help turn emerging ideas into reliable commercial solutions that improve safety, efficiency and productivity for customers across Europe.
This role gives you the chance to lead a growing multi-disciplinary team while shaping the next generation of automated products. The role may require occasional travel, primarily within Europe.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of advanced automation platforms from concept to deployment
- Guide a cross functional engineering team across mechanics, electronics, software and systems integration
- Drive platform architecture, design optimisation, testing and validation through critical development phases
- Partner with external technology specialists to accelerate innovation and secure strong commercialisation paths
- Recruit, mentor and develop a high performing Automation Systems organisation
- Align resources and priorities with the product development roadmap
- Support innovation and IP creation to protect and strengthen our competitive position
- Collaborate with Toyota Industries Corporation global teams to ensure shared standards and efficient deployment of automation technologies
Your Profile
- +8 years’ experience in in automation systems, robotics or mechatronics development, ideally in an R&D environment
- Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary engineering teams through full product development cycles
- Strong understanding of systems engineering, integration and architecture
- Able to simplify complex topics and build trust with different stakeholders
- Strategic thinker who stays close to the work to keep progress visible
- Motivated by building something long lasting that brings real value to customers
- University Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering (Master’s is a plus).
