The Standards and Platforms working group brings participants together to discuss standards for the Internet of Things, digital twins, and related technologies in an accessible way.
Members stay updated on standardization efforts and can influence developments without a major time commitment. The group also reviews IoT and digital twin platforms. In 2025, it conducted a market overview of horizontal IoT platforms, and has also focused on platforms for building local digital twins for geographic areas.
“Participating in the working group is a great complement to other IoT World activities,” says Torbjörn Lahrin, who leads the group.

This working group is exploring different platform options where IoT World members can share knowledge and interact with one another. We explore how we can create a digital community that enables the exchange of experiences, discussions, and online collaboration opportunities. This could include joint initiatives, project development, idea sharing, and networking between members, helping to strengthen connections and foster innovation across the IoT World community.
