“For a young company like us it means a lot to have our solutions validated by large corporations like the partners of IndX, who are well known both in Sweden and internationally” says Gustaf Svensson, CFO and Co-Founder of Renbloc.

The Stockholm based startup Renbloc was one of the five selected companies that got to realize their PoC (Proof of Concept- project) along with the partner companies in the IndX process of 2021. Renbloc applied in both 2020 and 2021, and are happy that they chose to apply again, even though they weren’t chosen the first year.

– I am very happy that we decided to try again since it has been a very positive experience for us. When we applied in 2021 we had been active for about 2,5 years and had attended and won several startup initiatives- like matchmakings and boot camps. What really sets IndX aside from these other processes were the direct contact and level of engagement from the partner companies, says Gustaf.

How green is green energy?

Renblocs solution makes it possible to map the use of energy in a factory, for example. In the IndX PoC Renbloc are looking into Väderstads factory as a whole and the charging of their forklift trucks. Toyota Material Handling Europe is also part of the project and monitors the results, with a special focus on the forklift trucks. This mapping can then show what kind of energy is used, at what hours and for what activities.

– The “green energy” that many energy companies sell today is never 100% renewable. It is always a mix of wind, water, cogenerated energy and so on. With our mapping we can calculate the emissions of the non renewable energy that is used and apply that data to create detailed taxonomy compliant reports or use our APIs to lower emissions by optimizing consumption in real time. Almost all large companies today work actively to decrease their emissions, and our solution can help them make the decisions that actually lead to considerable change.

An open atmosphere

So far in the project Renbloc has been collecting and analyzing data and they will be ready to present their findings at the end of March.

– The cooperation with Väderstad and Toyota Material Handling has been very smooth. The fact that the companies know each other and have been open to share thoughts and challenges with each other during our meetings has made the process both more fun and easier. We have also gotten access to many employees from both companies, which has given us a broader network and made the collaboration more efficient.

IndX is a unique collaboration between four of the largest global industrial companies in East Sweden.
