Van Gogh Alive is a multisensory experience that gives visitors a unique chance to explore the work of world-renowned artist Vincent van Gogh in a whole new way thanks to software and hardware from Linköping. After touring the world, the exhibition is now coming to Linköping.

Mjärdevi company Dataton has played a crucial role in the success of Van Gogh Alive worldwide. Their software, WATCHOUT, is the backbone of the image control in this spectacular show. Using WATCHOUT, Van Gogh Alive has brought art to life uniquely and engagingly in this multimedia show. The artist’s paintings have been creatively integrated with full motion video and photographs from the places that inspired Vincent van Gogh from 1880 to 1890.

– Gallery & museum owners are increasingly looking to multimedia shows to engage their visitors in new and exciting ways, and we are pleased to say that WATCHOUT is at the heart of many of them. Van Gogh Alive is a perfect example where great art is combined with modern science to allow every detail of the artist’s work to be seen in ways that simply would not have been possible just a few years ago, says Björn Sandlund, CEO of Dataton.

-We are delighted to present a world exhibition in Linköping once again, says Stefan Papangelis, CEO of Nordic Exhibitions & Events, the Swedish organizer.

For over 100 years, Vincent van Gogh’s work has fascinated and moved people worldwide – but never before in this way. Van Gogh Alive offers a digital art experience where over 3,000 images are transformed into live graphics and projected onto walls, ceilings and floors. The visual journey is accompanied by famous pieces of music, bringing the paintings to life in a way that stimulates all the senses.

– After enchanting over 9 million people and having sold-out stops worldwide, including London, Rome, Beijing, Dubai and Sydney, we are incredibly excited to bring the Van Gogh Alive exhibition to Linköping this summer. It is guaranteed to be an unforgettable cultural experience for the whole family, says Steve Smith, CEO of Grande Experiences.

Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch artist born in 1853 in Zundert. He is known for contributing to the post-impressionist art style and his expressive and emotional paintings. Van Gogh began his artistic career late in life and produced over 2 000 works in just a decade. His works are characterized by bold colours, thick brushstrokes and powerful expressions of emotion.

Although he did not achieve commercial success during his lifetime, Van Gogh is today considered one of the most influential artists of all time. Vann Gogh’s tragic life and mental health have also contributed to making him an icon in the art world.

Dataton was founded in 1973, 120 years after van Gogh. Their philosophy has remained constant over the years: they aim to enrich the visitor experience by providing outstanding audiovisual products. Research and development facilities are located in Linköping, Sweden. You’ll find Dataton products in commercial and cultural installations in every part of the world.

The exhibition is created by Grande Experiences and is organized in Linköping by Visit Linköping together with Nordic Exhibitions & Events AB.
