In 2023 Linköping won the iCapital Award for Europes most innovative city. As part of the award, Linköping received €500,000 and is now investing further by allocating SEK 3 million to the newly established iCapital Innovation Fund. The fund is open to innovation projects led by departments within Linköping Municipality. Projects must fall within the municipality’s scope of responsibility and comply with Swedish municipal law.
