This Tuesday, DoSpace Nova in Linköping buzzed with innovation as IndX Operational Innovation gathered 14 forward-thinking startups from around the globe. Startups from France, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, and a full delegation from Brazil came to pitch bold solutions to the operational and manufacturing challenges faced by IndX’s corporate partners Hitachi Energy, Husqvarna Group, NIRA Dynamics, Saab, SICK, Toyota Material Handling Europe and Väderstad.

Program Manager Robin Eriksson moderated the day and Lena Miranda, CEO of Linköping Science Park, introduced the day by stressing the need to help startups scale within Europe:

“It’s important to give startups opportunities to scale in Europe and get access to capital. There’s a risk of losing a lot of innovation to other parts of the world that are ready to invest in those scaleups,” she said.

In a unique twist, the partners took the stage to pitch their own challenges. Francisco Penayo, R&D Manager at Hitachi Energy, explained why they joined:

“We’re expanding rapidly and need to invest in productivity. IndX is one way to do that. Startups bring the knowledge and capabilities we need to grow and increase effectiveness.”

The day shifted into high gear during the traditional speed dating sessions.

Steve Brown from SEKAI added:

“Meeting the right people at these companies is nearly impossible without events like this. The speed dating sessions are invaluable – we get time to explain our ideas in more detail”

Keep an eye out for what IndX has planned for this fall where the upcoming calls Autonomy and Robotics and Sustainability are next up.
