IndX Smart Manufacturing Day took us to Flygvapenmuseum – the Swedish Air Force Museum in Linköping. Hosted by Saab, the event featured presentations focused on smart manufacturing, one of the focus areas of IndX. Each IndX day highlights a specific focus area, with the others being:
- Autonomy and Connectivity
- Sustainability
- Supply Chain, Logistics, and Service Market
- Cybersecurity
Marie Jonsson, Associate Professor at Linköping University, shared insights on dynamic automation and the future of manufacturing, presenting various case studies involving automation.
The day was well-attended by corporate partners, who participated in presentations and speed dating sessions, providing a chance to connect directly with companies and explore their innovative solutions. One of the attendees is Pedram Ram, Business Developer IT & Digitalization at Toyota Material Handling Europe, this being his first time attending an IndX day and meeting the IndX startups.
“It’s great to be here today. We have a delegation from Brazil as well and different companies here to pitch for smart manufacturing. We can use a lot of technologies that we have seen here today to improve ourselves. The biggest value to be a part of this is that you see other companies’ needs and things you haven’t seen before. We don’t have the time to go and search for new solutions ourselves all the time, but these types of forums gives us a great opportunity to be a part of it and find ways to improve ourselves,” he explains.

In the light of smart manufacturing we got to hear presentations about everything from streamlining processes with robotic automation systems to digitizing paper-based processes to reduce search times and training periods, creating smoother business operations.
It was exciting to see IndX continuing to expand globally, with a Brazilian startup delegation presenting at the end of the day. We also got to do a guided tour at the museum, learning much of the history of the Swedish Air Force by a former pilot, and interesting anectodes from his time in the military.
