The EU taxonomy is a classification tool which lists environmentally sustainable economic activities. By providing definitions to companies, investors, and policymakers on which economic activities can be considered environmentally sustainable, it is expected to reorient capital flows towards a more sustainable economy, ultimately supporting the objectives of the EU Green Deal.

The taxonomy is based on six environmental goals covering climate change mitigation and adaptation, circular economy, water, pollution and healthy ecosystems. Criteria has been developed for the two first environmental objectives, climate mitigation and adaptation, and will be implemented by the end of 2021. The criteria for the other four environmental objectives will be developed by the Platform on Sustainable Finance and come into force by the end of 2022.

In this webinar, Matilda Persson, Sustainable Finance Expert at 2050, will present what the EU Taxonomy is, who has to do what, and by when.

We will also together with Nathan Fabian, Chief Responsible Investment Officer at PRI and Chairperson of the European Platform on Sustainable Finance discuss how the Platform are working towards a fully realized taxonomy and what we can expect from the taxonomy in the future.

Together with Karl-Oskar Olming, Head of Sustainability Strategy, Policy and Governance, SEB and Member of the Platform on Sustainable Finance, we will explore how the taxonomy will impact market participants and its potential to reorient capital flows in a sustainable direction.

After the presentations, there will be time to discuss your questions during the Q&A session.
