Between late September and mid December, two digital marketing students from Affärshögskolan in Linköping completed their internships at Linköping Science Park. Alberte and Jasmin joined the communications team during a period marked by high activity across projects, events and collaborations.

Throughout the internship, they contributed to communication work connected to different parts of the organisation. The experience offered exposure to an environment where communication supports not just individual initiatives, but a wider innovation system involving companies, clusters, academia and public actors.

Early on, the complexity of that system became apparent. For Jasmin, getting an overview of how the organisation is structured was an important starting point.

“It took some time to understand the structure of Linköping Science Park and how everything is connected. Once that foundation was in place, it became clear that each cluster, project and event demands different things from its communications managers.”

As the internship progressed, both interns worked across a broad range of assignments. The work spanned visual production, copywriting, event-related communication and web content, often with varying audiences and objectives.

Alberte reflects on how this variety revealed the strategic role communication plays within the innovation ecosystem:

“Working at Linköping Science Park offered a unique insight into how communication connects companies, clusters, academia and public actors. It was inspiring to see how communication plays a strategic role in building an innovation ecosystem.”

A defining aspect of the internship was the level of trust and responsibility given to the interns. Rather than following a fixed set of tasks, they were encouraged to engage in projects that matched both organisational needs and personal learning goals.

“I was trusted to contribute and take ownership. That made the experience feel meaningful, and it helped me grow much faster than if I had only been observing,” Jasmin explains.

The hands-on work aligned closely with their studies at Affärshögskolan, where digital strategy, communication planning and audience analysis are central themes. Looking back on the internship as a whole, Alberte highlights the tempo and scope of the work:

“The pace and variety of the work stood out to me. Being involved in everything from event communication to strategic content planning gave me a realistic picture of what it means to work with communication in an innovation-driven organisation.”

Together, the internship gave Alberte and Jasmin a solid foundation for their continued development within communication and digital marketing. They would like to extend a sincere thank you to Linköping Science Park for the opportunity, the trust, and an inspiring environment that made the internship both educational and rewarding.
