40 years of innovation – stories from Linköping Science Park

Jennie Hammer Viskari, former Sweden Managing Director for Magna and Global Head of Sales and Marketing for Magna Electronics, is a leading voice in the automotive safety sector connected to Linköping Science Park. Her professional path reflects a willingness to embrace new responsibilities, demonstrated by her “I’ve never tried this before, so I’ll definitely manage” approach to roles outside her initial training as an innovation and design engineer.

Jennie led Magna, an automotive safety company that has operated within the Linköping Science Park environment (formerly as Veoneer). Her role often involved connecting the advanced technology developed by engineers with the needs of customers and buyers. This required translating complex technical information, such as the development of systems that automatically adjust for a person’s size and position in a collision, into language that is easily understood by everyone. She advocates for managers to be hands-on and practical, ensuring their expert colleagues have the ideal conditions to succeed.

For Jennie, operating within the Linköping Science Park environment is conducive to collaboration and finding the right talent. This strong belief in shared progress forms a core part of her philosophy, which emphasizes that professional experience carries an essential duty to benefit others. Jennie firmly states:

“Honestly, I think everyone has an obligation to share. It’s a responsibility we must take. If you know something, have experienced something, you should share it”.

This open and forward-leaning exchange of knowledge is what drives innovation and helps companies like Magna find the necessary skills and partners within the park.
