40 years of innovation – stories from Linköping Science Park

Anne Kihlgren is a biochemist and the founder of Dynamic Code, a healthtech company with deep roots in the Linköping Science Park ecosystem. As a Linköping University alumnus, she maintains strong ties to the region’s academic and business networks.

The chapter in our anniversary book details Kihlgren’s professional journey from the National Forensic Center (NFC) to entrepreneurship. At NFC, she specialized in explaining DNA technology and evidence to courts, an experience that taught her the necessity of placing facts into a clear context. This insight became the foundation for Dynamic Code, which focuses on creating value through accessible, secure health solutions.

Dynamic Code offers self-tests that allow individuals to obtain lab results without visiting a physical healthcare center. The text describes how this innovation addresses inefficiencies in traditional systems. For instance, diagnosing coeliac disease can historically take years, but modern DNA technology can provide answers in days. The chapter also highlights the company’s agility during the pandemic, where they paused existing development to launch Sweden’s first Covid-19 self-test, rapidly scaling capacity to support national testing needs.

Kihlgren’s narrative is defined by a desire to improve established structures and make healthcare more efficient for the patient. As she explains in the chapter:

“What drives me forward is frustration at how poorly traditional healthcare handles things.”

The development of this technology and its reach into international markets demonstrates how local innovation from Linköping can influence global healthcare standards.
