About the Thesis
In a rapidly growing high-tech industry in fast transformation, Toyota Material Handling Europe is stable, global and influential. We are committed to continuous improvement and innovation and we aim to strengthen our capabilities as a learning organisation.
This Master Thesis will explore how to create an environment where knowledge flows effectively across teams and individuals, supported by systems that enable learning at scale.
You will be based at our Innovation Centre in Vallastaden, Linköping, just a five-minute walk from the university. The Centre offers a dedicated student area where you can collaborate with other Master’s students, exchange ideas with our engineers and play an active role in the daily dynamics of innovation. You will also have the opportunity to visit our factory and R&D laboratories in Mjölby, gaining close insight into our core operations.
Thesis Objectives
The thesis will focus on:
- Internal Knowledge Sharing: how can we improve the way knowledge is captured, shared and reused?
- Supportive Systems: which tools, platforms and processes best support training and learning initiatives?
- Organisational Culture: how can we foster a culture of continuous learning and collaboration?
- Best Practice & Benchmarks: identify successful approaches in other organisations and adapt them to our context.
Your Contribution
As a thesis student, you will:
- Carry out literature reviews and benchmark studies on learning organisations and knowledge management.
- Interview stakeholders and analyse current practices within R&D.
- Propose a framework and practical recommendations for improving our internal learning and training systems.
Your Profile
We are looking for:
- 1-2 Master’s students in Industrial Engineering, Organisational Development, Knowledge Management or related fields.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- A genuine interest in organisational learning, digital tools and change management.
