Background

Digital twins are realistic digital models of real-world systems. Digital twins are used for testing, evaluation, and demonstration purposes.

Ericsson is developing digital twin technology for 5G, where real radio systems are used with realistic simulated radio propagation environments. The simulations are based on 3D model of physical spaces, such as terrain, buildings, vehicles, floor plans, furniture, and more.

As part of this project, we are developing a 3D model of the Ericsson office buildings in Linköping, which will be used to simulate how our 5G systems operate in our own workplace.

Thesis Description

The thesis may include:

  • Further development of the 3D model, using the software tool Blender.
  • Radio propagation measurements.
  • Comparison between results from measurements and the digital twin.
  • Further development of the radio propagation simulator.

Qualifications

Students with background in one or more of: 3D modeling, software development, digital communication, and radio propagation.

1-2 students, 30hp each
