Role Description

We are looking for an expert embedded software engineer with strong expertise in the Yocto/Open Embedded/BitBake development environment to join our team.

In this role you will work as part of a team developing highly efficient and optimized embedded Linux distributions at the heart of some of Ericsson’s most advanced telecommunications products. You will use your deep knowledge of Yocto and embedded Linux to implement, and continually improve the processes, tools, and norms used to build the next generation of telecom and edge computing infrastructure.

You will

  • Manage the care and feeding of the full Yocto CI/CD pipeline environment including new software introduction, bug & vulnerability repair and back-porting
  • Support other members of the Embedded Linux team who utilize the Yocto environment
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot integration of the Yocto environment with downstream software, tooling, and processes
  • Monitor and incorporate the latest advancements in embedded Linux build & test environment including but not limited to the Yocto ecosystem
  • Continually aim to improve the speed, agility, and integrity of our embedded Linux build and test environment

To be successful in the role you must have

  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Strong experience building and/or managing a Yocto-based CI/CD environment for embedded Linux
  • Experience in managing multiple recipes and BSP instances for a portfolio of embedded Linux devices.
  • Awareness of relevant open source community norms and behaviors; such as Linux kernel developers, the Yocto, Open Embedded and BitBake communities
  • Proficiency with DevOps tooling and administration
